Breaking Barriers for Minority Women in STEM

 Our mission at The Royal STEM Scholarship is to empower the future of our diverse society by providing scholarships and mentorship to young minority students aspiring to pursue STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) degrees in college. We are committed to breaking down barriers and fostering equity in STEM education, recognizing that the inclusion of underrepresented voices is essential for innovation and progress.

Meet our 2024 Scholarship Recipients

Casandra Woodley 

Casandra Woodley, an alumna of Nottoway County High School and a member of the National Honor Society, is set to attend Radford University for her nursing studies. Her calling became clear while she cared for her grandmother, sparking a deep interest in nursing. Overcoming obstacles, she completed her education at Southside Community College. Casandra, dedicated to service, has been involved in various community projects and is passionate about guiding young women through their educational and career journeys in healthcare. At Radford University, she aspires to earn her nursing degree, become a Registered Nurse, and ultimately, contribute to health education. Her path is marked by unwavering determination, hard work, and a commitment to positively influence the lives of others.

Giselle Yates 

Giselle Yates, an Oscar Smith High School alumna from Chesapeake, Virginia, upheld a steady GPA during her high school tenure. With a fervent desire to pursue pediatric medicine, she aims to tackle healthcare disparities and champion the cause of children in underprivileged areas. Her drive for scientific excellence propelled her into leadership positions within the Math National Honor Society and the Student Council Association. Giselle plans to further her education at James Madison University, specializing in Biology for her undergraduate degree. Her commitment to scholastic achievement, coupled with her community service endeavors, has equipped her to create a significant impact. Giselle's aspiration is to advance her studies at the University of Virginia School of Medicine, deepening her dedication to enhancing pediatric health and fostering healthcare equality.

Meet the Founder

Tyffani is a 2024 graduate with dual degrees in Mathematics and Mechanical Engineering from North Carolina A&T and Bennett College. A passionate advocate for STEM, Tyffani currently works in the aerospace industry. In alignment with her commitment to advancing diversity in STEM, she founded a nonprofit organization dedicated to inspiring and empowering young women of color to pursue advanced education and careers in STEM fields.
